Lambert Street, Erskineville

The inner city is full of beautiful heritage listed terraces that pose a challenge when it comes to maximising space. They often have very limited natural light and a lack storage.

The footprint ‘before and after’ image of this Erskineville home shows how an ingenious new layout maximises the interior flow and use of space, while allowing natural light to flood in with clever use of glass. A stunning curved wall sweeps along the length of the living area and cleverly hides oodles of storage, a laundry and even a toilet.

Use of materials such as polished concrete infuse a modern edge and add to the feeling of light and space.

The previously cluttered space is opened up and tons of natural light floods in through a glass wall and open staircase. The back of the house also invites in more light and increases the feeling of spaciousness.
